The Charities
Three charities are selected to benefit from the auction each year and this year, we've chosen Project Self-Sufficiency, SAVA and Poudre Valley Hospital Foundation.
Project Self-Sufficiency
Project Self-Sufficiency assists single parent families in becoming financially independent and free from government assistance. Each single parent who is enrolled in the program is assisted by a PS-S advisor in developing a Self-Sufficiency Action Plan. Services include career planning, personal counseling, job seeking assistance, and a number of resources such as an emergency fund, a scholarship program, children's programs, volunteer car repair, and donated vehicles. Many program participants have returned to school to increase their marketability in the work force. Participants often go to school and work while raising children alone. Poudre Valley Hospital Cancer Care
World-class cancer care right here in Northern Colorado--Poudre Valley Hospital, in Fort Collins, Colorado, has long offered a cancer program that raises the bar of excellence for cancer care in Northern Colorado. We have been approved by the American College of Surgeons, Commission on Cancer (ACoS), which sets the standard for quality multidisciplinary cancer care delivery at the national and local level. Every year, more than 1,200 local residents are newly diagnosed with cancer. We know how overwhelming it can be for our patients and their families to understand each unique cancer diagnosis and all the treatment options. Undergoing treatment is also difficult, and traveling to a cancer center far from home and loved ones may only compound these challenges. Therefore, it is our mission to provide comprehensive cancer services, right here at our local community hospital, which compare to those of leading cancer clinics around the world.
